Dedicate

Five Minute Writing Prompt

Today I am taking part in the “Five Minute Writing Prompt“.

This week’s FMF writing prompt is: DEDICATE

So, here it goes:

Dedicate

What comes to mind? I always think about the question, “How dedicated are we to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and how can we make it attractive to unbelievers”.

Someone once told me that it’s very easy to receive eternal life, actually, it’s as easy as A-B-C-D!

A-B-C-D

How can this be easy? Don’t we have to work to get into Heaven? The answer would be “No”! We cannot work our way into Heaven. We are saved by Grace!

Back to the A-B-C-D:

AAdmit to God that you are a sinner;
BBelieve that Jesus Christ , God’s Son, came to earth, died on the cross to pay for your sin debt, and rose again from the dead the third day;
CCall upon Jesus, meaning to pray to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, and with a sincere heart ask Him to forgive you of your sins (repent), save you from hell, and come into your heart and life!;
DDedicate your life to Him. Ask God to show you His plan for your life, and guide you to true believers and a God honoring church for fellowship and growth.

To God be the Glory!

Have a blessed week.

Stopping at 5 Minutes I forgot to add the Source where I first got to know about the ABC. Here it is:

HAPPY 2023

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy New Year.

May 2023 bring us lots of blessings from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2022 was quite the year for our family! My husband fell and broke his hip while we were in Germany visiting my family. So now he has a new hip “Made in Germany”! Unfortunately, at the same time when he fell he twisted his knee and had to have it replaced in September, which was done in Houston, Texas. He is doing well and recovering. God has been good through this whole trial.

Happy New Year dear Friends!

It’s been a while since I last posted my thoughts. Getting ready for publishing our next book took over my life, and then there was the garden, the harvest, preserving everything and getting ready for winter! Covid didn’t help because the young people who usually stay with and help us throughout the summer and fall while travelling the Rockies couldn’t come. In between all that I managed to get in some hiking with a friend this past summer/fall.

Laughing Falls – Yoho National Park – British Columbia – Canada
Bow Lake – Jasper National Park – Alberta – Canada

Through all that God gave us the strength to get everything done, and now back to the editing and publishing business.

Why Do I Need The God of the Bible?

Hello everyone!

I haven’t been around much. Life always gets busy on our little farm and there is lots of gardening and preserving all the harvest involved.

Now winter has arrived, everything has been put away and life is slowing down.

Toady I posted the below article on my husbands blog and thought that I would just create a link for you to follow.

Thank you for being a loyal follower. It means a lot to me.

Hope you enjoy the post on “Why do I need the God of the Bible?”

The Full Armor of God – Part 2

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NKJV)

Last week we explored some reasons why we need the whole Armor of God. Today I want to look at the individual pieces of the Armor of God and what they stand for.

First, let’s read again through

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NKJV)
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

What are the pieces of armor?

The Full Armor of God – Part 1

Ephesians 6:10-17 (NKJV)

Prayer – so important and not used enough by us (me included)!

With this in mind, I thought that we continue looking at prayer examples. In this blog post and probably the next one I’ll be looking at how we can protect ourselves from the evil one and his attacks with the “Full Armor of God”.

Let’s read

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NKJV)
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”

William MacDonald titles verses 10-20 as
“Exhortations Concerning the Christian Warfare” *

What is Prayer and Why Pray? (Part 4)

Matthew 6:13a-b – The Lord’s Prayer

It’s Monday again and we’ll take a deeper look at the last of the three petitions which focus on our personal needs.

Matthew 6:13a+b (NKJV)
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

The “New Believer’s Bible Commentary” says:

“Recognize your inclination to fall into sin, and pray that the opportunity to sin will not lead to committing the sin.” *

William MacDonald comments:

And do not lead us into temptation.
This request may appear to contradict James 1:13, which states that God would never tempt anyone. However, God does allow His people to be tested and tried. This petition expresses a healthy distrust of one’s own ability to resist temptations or to stand up under trial. It acknowledges complete dependence on the Lord for preservation.

But deliver us from the evil one.
This is the prayer of all who desperately desire to be kept from sin by the power of God. It is the heart’s cry for daily salvation from the power of sin and Satan in one’s life.” #

What is Prayer and Why Pray? (Part 3)

Matthew 6:12 – The Lord’s Prayer

Today we’ll take a deeper look at the second of the three petitions which focus on our personal needs.

Matthew 6:12 (NKJV)
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors

The commentary in the “New Believer’s Bible” NLT version explains this verse as follows:

Confess your sins to God. Psalm 66:18 (NLT) says,

If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

If you are clinging to some sin, your prayer life will suffer. *
