Philosophy or Holistic Approach

First of all:

All herbs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds were created perfectly by God containing the right amounts of vitamins, minerals, proteins, fiber, fats and oils to nourish our body.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

“Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:11-12)

When we analyze a fruit, vegetable, herb, nut or seed we find all kinds of vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, fats and oils that are essential to keep our body healthy. We also find that certain combinations of macro- and micro-nutrients, as in Food or Protein Combining Guidelines, assist the body in optimal digestion and assimilation. It is important to understand how to combine different nutritious foods for a balanced diet to achieve good health.

Nutritious organic food is a precious gift from God to us! I thank God for it every day.

Secondly:

Nutrition consists of three main courses:

  • BODY
Consists of avoiding the wrong foods—like foods with chemicals and foods that are genetically modified—and eating the right foods…in moderation. And, equally important, daily, physical exercise…also in moderation.

  • MIND
Being optimistic, positive and not being negative—properly handling stress—having healthy relationships with others—enjoying life.

  • SPIRIT
Being confident in our eternal destination—not feeling guilty—not worrisome—having patience, kindness, and gentleness—forgiveness—maintaining self-control by knowing God is with you.

There is something to be said for the confidence you have when you know what you believe to be the truth.

Don’t take just part of the menu, but all three, or you will have physical, mental, or spiritual malnutrition. Wholesome, if we break the word down, becomes “whole” and “some.” We all need some of everything on the list to be whole in our daily living.

The three mains are interrelated:

If we do not go to extremes in our foods we can laugh when we eat a nice dessert. We can feel confident that the exercise will burn the calories. When we exercise it makes us feel more energetic instead of tired and sluggish. The third item on the menu is like the dessert on a restaurant list: The quality of life we obtain from fellowshipping with others is coming from the contagious encouragement and building up of each other.

Third:

What We Eat, Think, and do Not Eliminate Today, We Become Tomorrow!

Our brain, muscles and other organs require food intake to function.
Can we keep driving our car without fuelling up? Would you put the cheapest fuel in the tank of your car when you know that it would harm the engine? Why do we put cheap, unhealthy food, fast food into our bodies and expect them to perform perfectly? Poor quality nutrition and eating habits will not show up immediately, but in order to sustain a long and healthy life our body requires high quality nutrition input.

The basics of sound nutrition are a balanced daily diet that:

  • Provides optimum levels of the nutrients required by the body
  • Avoids, or is low in, foods which are detrimental to health, including chemicals, white sugar and white flour, saturated fat and sodium

The ideal diet is:

  • Raw or slightly cooked organic vegetables and fruits (60%)

  • Whole grains, nuts and seeds (20%)

  • Adequate but not excessive protein in the form of low fat vegetable proteins or lean chicken, fish, or red meat (approx. 20%)

The use of whole, unprocessed organic foods is too often forgotten in hectic modern life. Now more than ever, sound nutrition is vital: We live in a world full of potentially harmful pollutants in our air, water, and food.
