The Full Armor of God – Part 2

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NKJV)

Last week we explored some reasons why we need the whole Armor of God. Today I want to look at the individual pieces of the Armor of God and what they stand for.

First, let’s read again through

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NKJV)
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

What are the pieces of armor?

The Full Armor of God – Part 1

Ephesians 6:10-17 (NKJV)

Prayer – so important and not used enough by us (me included)!

With this in mind, I thought that we continue looking at prayer examples. In this blog post and probably the next one I’ll be looking at how we can protect ourselves from the evil one and his attacks with the “Full Armor of God”.

Let’s read

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NKJV)
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”

William MacDonald titles verses 10-20 as

DO and DO NOT – Book of Philippians 4:8

Think Positive

We are still in the last chapter of Philippians with our study on how God expects us to conduct ourselves during this life on earth.

I believe that the Book of Philippians is a God inspired guideline for our walk and being in this world. And just as a reminder, the Book of Philippians is not the only book in the Bible to give advice for life. We have to take the whole of Scripture into consideration and it’s important to keep all of it in context.

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthymeditate on these things.

Philippians 4:8
(NLT)
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

What a wonderful instruction! And it says it all.

How can we fix our thoughts on the positive and not wonder off into the negative world around us?
